Set teaching times for English and mathematics

From 2010 Queensland state schools will have set hours for teaching English and mathematics for students in Years 1 to Year 7.

This means that from the beginning of next year, many teachers in Queensland state schools will spend more time teaching English and maths to support literacy and numeracy development of young people.

Schools also retain the flexibility to provide additional time to these subject areas if that best suits the needs of their students because access to a complete and engaging curriculum is important for all students.

For more information please download the Set Teaching Times Fact Sheet (new window) 73k Adobe PDF document.
