Independent review of the Department of Education and Training's asbestos management policies in Queensland state schools

In February 2010, the Queensland Government engaged the services of Mr John Gaskin, an experienced building industry professional, to conduct an independent audit of the Department of Education and Training's asbestos management in Queensland State Schools.

In April 2010, Mr Gaskin's Terms of Reference were extended to include an independent review of the department's asbestos management policies in Queensland.

Asbestos Management Documents

In response to recommendations of the Audit of DET Asbestos Management in Queensland Schools, the department revised its policy for the management of asbestos and also developed an Asbestos Management Plan.

These documents were reviewed by key stakeholders including the Department of Education and Training Asbestos Expert Advisory Panel.
