The health, safety and well-being of students and staff is the highest priority of the Department of Education and Training.
This webpage provides links for parents and caregivers to information about the management of asbestos-containing materials in Queensland state schools.
Asbestos-containing building materials were used extensively throughout Queensland from the 1940s up until 1990. These materials were used in floors, walls, roofs and many other building applications for houses, schools and other types of buildings both government and non-government.
Asbestos-containing materials that are in a sound condition do not pose a health risk unless disturbed.
