About the Australia Day Achievement Awards

The Australia Day Achievement Awards have been presented to departmental employees since their introduction in 1994, and are an important part of the department's aim to recognise and reward significant contributions made by employees to the department and the wider community.

The Australia Day Achievement Award medallions are presented to award recipients at local ceremonies held across Queensland on Australia Day.

The Awards are an initiative of the National Australia Day Council (NADC).

The NADC aims to promote a sense of national pride, and a commitment to our country and its future among all Australians. In line with this commitment, the NADC makes Australia Day medallions available to commonwealth, state and local government departments and agencies.

Department of Education and Training employees are nominated by their colleagues for noteworthy contributions to the department during the past year, or outstanding service over a number of years.
