Creative Generation

Queensland is recognised both nationally and internationally for its innovative and dynamic arts scene. Creative Generation provides an opportunity for talented arts students to refine, challenge and extend their artistic practice.

Creative Generation - State Schools Onstage and Creative Generation Excellence Awards in the Arts aim to nurture our future artists to ensure they play an integral role in further enhancing and developing the creativity of our state.

The young creative thinkers of Queensland are an important investment for the future of the Smart State.

Creative Generation - State Schools Onstage is a unique annual performance event that features more than 550 students from state schools from around Queensland. The show has evolved into a renowned educational and entertainment event of the highest professional standard, showcasing the wealth of talent in state schools and the quality performing arts opportunities provided to Queensland state school students.

Creative Generation - State Schools Onstage aims to expand the excellent performing arts education provided to students in Queensland state schools by giving them and their teachers the chance to display and extend their talents in an exciting, professionally produced show.

Creative Generation - State Schools Onstage 2008, held at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), Concert Hall on Friday 30 May and Saturday 31 May featured a 70-piece orchestra, a 220-voice choir, 220 dancers, talented featured and backing vocalists and professional artists.

Creative Generation Excellence Awards in the Arts recognises and celebrates talented senior arts students in the forms of contemporary and instrumental music, dance, drama, visual art and design and film, television and new media.

Creative Generation Excellence Awards in the Arts aims to support and further develop the individual talents of senior students and inspire their artistic vision, while giving them the skills to work in the arts world.

The program will bring together students from metropolitan, regional and remote areas so they can extend their talents and share their achievements with other talented and focused student artists, and learn from some of our top arts industry professionals.

The 2008 dance, drama and contemporary music workshops will culminate with Creative Generation Excellence Awards in the Arts Encore, a professionally produced show celebrating the students' efforts.
