International venue management organisation AEG Ogden has joined the Queensland Government in a public private partnership to provide not only project funding for MOST 2013 but also venues for some MOST events. The organisation manages venues throughout the Asia Pacific region, including the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Cairns Convention Centre, Suncorp Stadium and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre at Boondall.
In the past many senior state school instrumental music students have been involved in both MOST and the Creative Generation - State Schools Onstage (CGEN) symphony orchestra.
Each program is unique in its ability to serve the purpose of providing a real-world intensive arts experience while nurturing the individual needs of each musician.
CGEN is Queensland's largest youth performing arts event for state school students with four shows being held on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 July 2013 at BCEC.
The CGEN symphony orchestra provides the main accompaniment to the vocal, dance and feature items in the show. The repertoire is varied, covering a wide range of classical and popular styles.
The MOST 2013 Big Band will be mentored by James Morrison. The students will work with James Morrison during the MOST residential program and perform with him at the MOST Gala Concert on Wednesday 26 June 2013.
Students will also be invited to participate in The James Morrison Creative Generation Big Band which includes performing at Creative Generation - State Schools Onstage and at the finale of Queensland Music Festival (QMF) on 28 July 2013.
