Creative Generation - State Schools Onstage is over for 2010 - and what a fantastic show it was.
On Friday 16 and Saturday 17 July, more than 1200 Queensland state school students came together at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Bank, to show Queensland the wealth of talent of today's youth.
This year's show was a spectacular success, with students and professionals performing to an audience of more than 4400, including a sell-out performance on Saturday night. The performances by student vocalists, dancers, actors and musicians demonstrated just how much talent exists in Queensland state schools.
The quality of this year's show was of the highest standard, as was the professionalism displayed by all student performers. Audience members were amazed with the performances.
Highlights of this year's show include The Gap State High School student Lauren Porter's moving rendition of Can't Help Falling In Love, Cleveland District State High School student Matt Gibb's beat boxing performance which received a thunderous applause from the crowd in I Gotta Feeling and students performing alongside Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre professionals in The Garden, making spectacular use of this year's water curtain feature.
Student band Freak Morice, who recently won the Original Selection competition and will now support Powderfinger at their sold out farewell concert at the Caloundra Music Festival, got the crowd clapping with their original song Secret Handshake. The captivating and inspirational Try a Little Tenderness saw special guest Stan Walker perform alongside phenomenal Mabel Park State High School student Mose Iosefa.
The mix of Young Hearts Run Free and We Are Family saw the entire cast of Creative Generation - State School Onstage 2010 come together to close the show with a bang.
The journey leading up to the Creative Generation - State Schools Onstage 2010 shows is a learning curve for the students. Throughout rehearsals, students had the guidance and support of professional tutors, coaches and choreographers.
Congratulations to all the students and teachers from the 104 schools involved, professional artists, school communities and parents.

Creative Generation - State Schools Onstage 2010 was televised nationally on Network Ten in September.
