Creative Generation - State Schools Onstage, the highest-profile public event staged by the Department of Education, Training and the Arts, will celebrate Queensland's 150th birthday (Q150) in style at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre at Boondall on Saturday 6 June 2009.
Now in its fifth year of production, Creative Generation - State Schools Onstage has evolved into a renowned educational and entertainment event of the highest professional standard. The show annually showcases the wealth of talent in state schools and the quality performing arts opportunities provided to Queensland state school students.
In 2009 Queensland will reach its 150th anniversary of independence from New South Wales. This milestone gives us a great opportunity to celebrate with a bang!
And what better way to do that than by providing a never-to-be-repeated performance opportunity featuring our own Queensland state school students?
The fifth annual Creative Generation event, to be televised nationally by Network Ten, and will be six times larger than previous events. It will be the largest variety event of its kind ever held in Queensland.
Next year, through the Q150 theme Our people, our places, our stories Queensland's most acclaimed state schools' performing arts event will present opportunities for more than 3500 state school students through the development of a 100-piece symphony orchestra, a 30-piece stage band, a 1500-voice choir, a 2000-member dance troupe, and talented featured and backing vocalists.
The performance will be a heart-warming mix of education, entertainment and emotion that will showcase the amazing talent being nurtured in our state schools.
School students will have the opportunity to work alongside world-class choreographers and entertainers. The show will also include leading Queensland arts companies such as Raw Dance Company, Zen Zen Zo and Flipside Circus.
This headline event will be staged with the support of partners Network Ten and The Courier-Mail.
Teachers can now nominate Queensland state school student musicians, choirs, solo singers, dancers, variety performers, cultural groups, stage crew and support teachers to participate in the show.
We are looking for the unusual, the excellent and everything in between to create a kaleidoscope of colour, song and dance.
