Australia as a diverse society - Migrant experiences

Age range: 10-12 years

Curriculum links: C2C History Year 6 Unit 2 - Investigating the development of Australia as a diverse society.

Did you know there are many sportsmen and women representing Australia in the Commonwealth Games who were born in other countries? Two examples are Abebe Fekadu and Miao Miao.

Fekadu was born in Ethiopia and has represented Australia in Powerlifting. Miao was born in China and represents Australia in Table Tennis.

The following resources help students research and compare sportspeople who have migrated to Australia.
