Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools 2008

The Showcase 2008 State Finalists have been announced.

The Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools 2008 provides Queensland State Schools the chance to shine in the spotlight and the opportunity to share in more than $370 000 in grants.

The Showcase program is designed for Queensland State Schools and features eight categories that aim to:

recognise, celebrate and reward excellent practice in State Schools
foster a learning culture that supports sharing excellent practices
create professional development opportunities
promote public education.

The eight categories for 2008 include:

The Network Ten Showcase Award for Excellence in the Early Phase of Learning
The Commonwealth Bank of Australia Showcase Award for Excellence in the Middle Phase of Learning
The RACQ Showcase Award for Excellence in the Senior Phase of Learning
The Showcase Award for Excellence in Inclusive Education
The Queensland University of Technology Showcase Award for Excellence in Leadership
The RemServ Showcase Award for Excellence in Innovation
The Showcase Award for Academic Excellence
The TechnologyOne Showcase Award for Excellence in Community or Industry Partnerships

This year:

79 regional awards were announced during State Education Week 2008 (26 - 30 May 2008) each receiving $1000 in development grants funds
A total of 24 State Finalists have each received $5000 in grants and have the chance to win one of eight State Awards.
State Awards will receive $20 000 in grants and be announced at the Showcase Gala Dinner on Friday 5 September 2008.

New this year - The Showcase Awards State Finalists celebrations dovetail with two key education events!

Education Queensland's prestigious Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools will partner with The Education Show 2008 this year with Showcase 2008 State Finalists displaying their innovative programs at the Education Show held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 September. Showcase State Award winners from 2006 and 2007 will also present their highly acclaimed programs as part of the exhibition 's seminar program.

As part of the National Literacy and Numeracy Week, the Partnerships in Learning State Conference will also be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday 5 September 2008.
