723 state school bands and orchestras participated in the Fanfare 2010 Regional Festivals that were held throughout the state in May and June this year. Over 19, 500 instrumental music students performed over 10, 000 hours of music during the 18 days of the regional festivals.
11 ensembles were selected to participate in the State Finals in Brisbane from 3 - 5 August. Schools represented in Fanfare 2010 are Benowa SHS Concert Band, Centenary SHS Concert Band, Kingaroy SHS Stage Band, The Gap SHS Orchestra, Centenary Heights SHS Stage Band, Brisbane SHS Symphonic Band, Yeppoon SHS Concert Band, Pimlico SHS Chamber Strings, Cairns SHS Orchestra, Pine Rivers SHS Stage Band and Mackay North SHS String Orchestra.
During the Fanfare State Finals in August these 11 ensembles will be vying for a spot in the Grand Final Concert to be held on Thursday 5 August in the Concert Hall at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre. The best performance on the night will receive the Erica Brindley Memorial Trophy.
This great evening of musical entertainment celebrates the high level of achievement that is reached by young instrumental musicians and their teachers from Queensland State Schools through their participation in Education Queensland's Instrumental Music Program. Come along to the concert and enjoy an evening of exceptional music making that will leave you amazed and inspired.
