The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) in England has developed World Class Tests in problem-solving and mathematics for 9- and 13-year-olds. These tests are available internationally to interested students. The tests which are largely computerised with high-quality graphics and a mix of question types, will be delivered through the Internet during timed windows of opportunity in which students can sit the tests. The 2002 tests will be offered in February, April, July and October. A limited number of Queensland schools (from both state and non-state schools) were involved in trialling the tests in October and November 2001. All New Basics trial schools will register students to sit the problem-solving tests in April 2002. Further information, including practice test questions, is available at the World Class Arena website.
