All state schools offer opportunities for parents to join a Parents and Citizens' (P & C) Association. These associations are involved in a variety of school activities from policy to financial planning as well as tuckshops, fundraising activities, school functions and outside school hours care.
The department and the P&Cs Qld work together to support state school P&C groups. This partnership is governed by the EQ/P&Cs Qld partnership protocols.

There are many grants and funding resources available to school communities for use toward school programs and initiatives and to support students. The Resourceful Schools guide has been developed to provide information on how to access some of these resources.
Education Queensland has prepared guidelines to help Parents and Citizens Associations understand liability issues.
