The Department of Education, Training and the Arts periodically commissions external research agencies - academics, universities, research centres and other entities - to undertake major research studies and investigations. These pieces of work typically focus on key policy issues or research questions facing government, and are often the forerunner to the rollout of major initiatives. The commissioning of such studies reflects the Department 's commitment to the importance of contestability and independence in the provision of policy and research advice, and is testimony to the quality of the educational research pool within Queensland and nationally. This site contains the reports of recently completed externally commissioned research studies. Further reports will be added to this site as they become available.
- To continue to ensure a world-class education for all the children and young people in Queensland, the Eidos Institute were commissioned to engage a team of researchers to review the literature relating to the management and resourcing of the operations of schooling. The review report focused on a model of advantage through structured flexibility for the operations of schooling. - This project seeks to identify potential systemic issues, including barriers, attractors and interventions that influence participation by Low Socio-Economic Status (LSES) students in tertiary education.
