Research in the Department of Education, Training and the Arts
The Queensland Department of Education, Training and the Arts strongly values research and recognises the benefits which quality research can deliver to policy, teaching, learning, vocational education, training and art and cultural development.
Research also helps to understand and anticipate emerging issues and challenges and the future environment in which the Department will operate. The Department must continue to look forward and anticipate changes that could affect its work and subsequently prepare to meet these challenges.
With rigorous evidence on effectiveness, schools and training environments can focus their resources on programs that work. Given the plethora of programs available, information on what programs are working as intended would benefit all partners in education and training.
Similarly research activity in the arts can help ensure that the Smart State is a culturally dynamic place to live, rich in diversity and experiences - where ideas and talent are supported; where artistic and cultural pursuits are encouraged; and where the economy is enhanced by excellence in creative innovation.
RESEARCH IN EDUCATION
Research to be conducted within Education related sites including Queensland State Schools and Queensland government Education offices is reviewed by Strategic Policy and Performance Division (SPP). SPP within the Department of Education, Training and the Arts leads and supports the development of long-term education strategy. Researchers need to apply using a downloadable research application form and comply with the conditions described in the research guidelines.
