The Research and Development Plan (2008-2011) outlines the role of research for all portfolio areas of the Department of Education, Training and the Arts (DETA). The Research and Development (R&D) Plan describes the core features of the department 's current research agenda, and sets out the fundamental principles which guide the department 's commitment to and investment in research.
The Plan also outlines a range of suggested priority areas of future enquiry across the Education, Training and Arts elements of the Portfolio to encourage investigations by internal and external researchers in these key areas. These research priorities are linked clearly to current departmental priorities outlined in the DETA Strategic Plan.
The key purpose of the R&D Plan is to articulate a clear vision for the role of research in the department. It aims to strengthen the department 's research capacity, build collaborative research partnerships, and promote the importance of evidence-based decision making to inform policy and program development. Key activities to achieve these aims are outlined in the Plan and are reviewed regularly. The Research Prioritiesfor 2008-2010 can be accessed via the link below.
