Multiliteracies in the LOTE Classroom
Multiliteracies include traditional and emerging modes of communication.
Teachers should provide opportunities for students to communicate, in culturally appropriate ways, through oral, print and multimedia representations.
Suggestions for using multiliteracies in the LOTE classroom:
- Emails to classmates/sister schools/other schools that are studying the same LOTE;
- PowerPoint presentations which combine sound/text/vision/graphics;
- Videos to inform or to provide opportunities for critical literacy;
- Web quests in the LOTE to find information about the target country;
- Videos and DVDs to present learnings or for teaching tools;
- Role-plays or interviews on tape for student self-assessment;
- Graphics to show results of surveys carried out in the LOTE.
