Regional Languages Education Plans (RLEPs)

The regional approach to languages (or Languages other than English) education requires Regional Directors to oversee the development of an accountability plan, titled the Regional Languages Education Plan, which provides strategies and targets to deliver the desired outcomes:

• mandatory language studies for all Year 6, 7 and 8 students in Queensland state schools
• quality, contemporary language programs to develop language skills and intercultural understanding;
• an increase in the percentage of Year 12 students who complete language studies.
