Winners of the 2005 Peter Doherty Awards for Excellence in Science and Science Education

The winners of the 2005 Peter Doherty Awards for Excellence in Science and Science Education attended a presentation ceremony at Customs House in Brisbane on 18 August to receive their awards from new Minister for Education and The Arts, Rod Welford.

The Peter Doherty Awards are part of the 2003-2006 Spotlight on Science initiative. They recognise students, teachers, schools, and organisations that demonstrate an outstanding and innovative contribution to science and science education in Queensland.

A panel of Queensland scientists and science educators selected this year's 33 winners, who receive over $100 000 in awards and scholarships to further their science studies or continue their programs that inspire students and educators in the field of science.
