P-12 Science Sharing Practice Conference

One of the key areas being addressed in the Science Education Strategy 2006-2009 is the provision of professional development experiences through teachers sharing successful and innovative practice.

In February 2008, the Department of Education, Training and the Arts Curriculum Branch funded a series of Sharing Practice Conferences for Year 11 and 12 Chemistry and Physics state school teachers throughout Queensland. These conferences were highly successful and provided invaluable benefits for teachers and students.

The next Sharing Practice Conference will be available for all P-12 state school teachers. The P-12 Sharing Practice Conference will enable teachers to have the opportunity to discuss and share experiences and resources that may assist in the development of quality classroom learning experiences and an opportunity for reflective practice. There will be a range of workshops facilitated by P-12 teachers for P-12 teachers about the things that really matter in P-12 education. In addition, at the conference, the Peter Doherty Awards for Excellence in Science and Science Education will be presented by the Minister for Education, Training and the Arts.

Travel, accommodation, registration, catering and conference expenses will be paid by DETA Curriculum Branch for all state school teachers attending the conference. There are six conference places available for participants in each region so get in early (max 2 people/school and 2 people/ per phase of schooling per region). TRS is the responsibility of the school.

Venue: Bardon Conference Centre, Brisbane

Dates: 21 & 22 October 2008
