Senior Science Officers

Working with industry

Four Senior Science Officers work across the state to facilitate opportunities for teacher professional development through building stronger partnerships with 'real world' scientific industry and research organisations.

Their roles include:

facilitating programs that link schools and research scientists
maintaining existing partnerships between schools, government departments like the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries and the Department of Natural Resources and Water, as well as scientific research organisations like the CSIRO, the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and a range of tertiary institutions
creating new partnerships with industry
helping schools and students find science-related workplace industry placements
introducing scientists into schools as mentors and career role models
providing professional development for Heads of Department/Curriculum and teachers on contemporary issues in science education.
