The draft 2003 Assessment and Reporting Framework new window 302k
proposed that Education Queensland's assessment system incorporate three key ideas:
Standardised assessment tasks improve the comparability of results reported to parents and the system about the quality of the learning that has occurred and under what conditions the evidence of the learning was gathered.
Effective classroom assessment can deliver comparability if appropriate assessment criteria and standards descriptors are used to inform teacher judgments about the nature of student learning and if standards assurance processes are in place.
A number of schools have been involved in developmental work associated with the Assessment and Reporting Framework. Their work has required the design and implementation of Teacher Generated Tasks (TGTs) and the administration of the Queensland Assessment Task (QAT).
The following domains or learning areas have been the focus of the work.
