To become a member, read the borrowing conditions and submit a Queensland LOTE Library membership form.
Who is eligible?
Membership is open to practising teachers and instructors in Queensland Government, Independent and Catholic schools, Queensland Universities, TAFE institutions and After Hours Ethnic Schooling programs.
Are there any costs involved?
The service is free but clients are responsible for the cost of returning resources.
How do I access the resources?
You can access our catalogue on site or on the web. Advice regarding the selection and use of resources can be obtained by contacting the librarian.
How do I borrow resources?
Requests for resources can be made by phone, fax, email or in person. Brisbane metropolitan area clients are encouraged to collect their resources from the Library (We will hold resources for you until you can collect them). The Library will post resources to clients in other areas.
How many resources can I borrow?
There is no restriction on the number of resources that can be borrowed.
How long can I borrow them for?
The standard loan period is four weeks. For popular resources the loan period is two weeks. IcIs resources may be borrowed for one term.
How do I know when my loans are due?
When you borrow you will be issued a receipt that lists the due date for each item. You may also contact the library to find out the due date for your loans.
Can I renew my loans?
Standard loans can be renewed for four weeks, if another teacher does not require them. Resources more than one month overdue cannot be renewed.
Can I reserve or book resources?
A resource may be reserved if it is on loan to another client. A resource may be booked if it is required for a particular day.
Are there any penalties for overdue resources?
A client with an overdue resource will be issued with an Overdue Notice via email. If the resource is not renewed or returned, an invoice for the cost of the resource will be issued.
What happens if I lose or damage the resources I have borrowed?
Clients must cover the costs of the resources that are lost or damaged.
What do I do if I have returned a book and I receive an overdue notice or invoice?
You should contact the library immediately and explain the situation. Library staff will investigate.
How do I return resources?
Resources must be returned to the Queensland LOTE Library during opening hours (there is no after-hours return box) or posted to Box 3663, South Brisbane Qld 4101.
What should I do if I change schools?
If any of your contact details change, please contact the library so we can update your membership record.
