This directory allows you to search for information about state schools and non-state schools within Queensland. Non-state schools includes those that are not administered by the government, including those affiliated with the Queensland Catholic Education Association, the Christian Schools Association or the Association of Independent Schools. Boarding schools fit within this category.
The directory includes information about schools that are open, as well as some limited information about schools that have been approved to open but are not yet fully operational.
Note that schools that have closed are not included, but a link to the Register of Recent School Openings, Closures and Name Changes is included.
Searches are not case sensitive, so it does not matter whether you use upper or lower case, or any combination e.g. Brisbane, brisbane, BRISBANE, brisBane.
Clicking on the Download button on the results returned page will populate an Excel spreadsheet with the returned results.
There are three types of searches offered using tabs. The first searches state schools only, the second searches non-state schools only and the third searches all schools which includes state and non-state schools.
There are three fields on the search screen. Any of these fields can be used in isolation to search.
The first field can be used in isolation to search on school names, addresses, suburbs, towns and cities. You can then narrow your search by using the Region and Type of school fields as well.
If you do not enter any search criteria in any of the fields, a list of all of the state schools in Queensland will be displayed.

To search for a school with the official name Abercorn State School, enter Abercorn State School in the school name field and click on Search. This will give you the details for that school only.
To search for all schools whose names begin with Bris, simply enter bris and click on Search. This will automatically give you a list of all schools with names beginning with Bris. By default searches will look for any name beginning with the text which you have entered.
To search for schools whose names contain the word Hills enter 'hills or *hills and click on Search. There should be no space between the wildcard character (' *) and your text. In this position the wildcard will cause a search returning any text preceding the letters you have typed in (the search for any trailing text occurs by default). This will give you a list of all schools whose names have any characters before or after hills.
Here you may enter only one of the names which you can select from the drop down list. You cannot type any text in this field. Once you click on Search you will receive a list of all of the schools in that region, subject to any other criteria that you may have included in other search fields. If you wish to deselect Region choose the 'All' option from the drop down list.
