Under the Toward Q2 strategy, the Queensland Government will establish an additional 240 kindergarten services by 2014. This is part of an initiative to provide all Queensland children with access to high-quality early education before they start school.
The extra kindergartens will cater for the 12,000 children not currently accessing any centre-based early education or care services in Queensland.
The Queensland Government project will be delivered in partnership with the Australian Government over the next six years.
As part of the Queensland and Australian Governments' Partnership Agreement on Early Childhood Education, Queensland will receive $252 million in Commonwealth funding over the next five years to help build a world class early childhood education system.
