Ministerial designation process

A Minister may designate land for community infrastructure under section 200 of the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 (SPA). To ensure that requirements for adequate environmental assessment and public consultation are met, assessment of any proposed designation is carried out in accordance with the "Guidelines about Environmental Assessment and Public Consultation Procedures for Designating Land for Community Infrastructure 2006" (the Guidelines).

To meet the requirements for adequate public consultation under the Guidelines, DETE will provide a copy of the Public Notification and Initial Assessment Report below for public viewing.

Public Consultation

Step 4 of the Ministerial designation process under the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 (SPA) calls for public consultation in relation to land required as community infrastructure.

Key stakeholders and members of the public are now invited to review and comment on the Initial Assessment Report (IAR). Duration of the consultation period is 15 working days from the date of public notification.

Receipt of public submissions will be acknowledged in writing. Issues raised will be highlighted in the Final Assessment Report presented to the Minister for Education, Training and Employment. The Minister will consider all feedback in determining whether to designate a site for use as community infrastructure.
