This program is designed to provide funding to repair, replace or install new items critical to the school's overall needs, as identified by school communities.
Schools are responsible for using the funds received only on the particular project that was approved for funding. Funds must also be used in accordance with the Commonwealth Government 's guidelines.
The Commonwealth requires acquittal of funding received, therefore this is a "targeted program ". Expenditure must be coded against SMS Transaction Reference 3 code of "CA " to allow for data extraction. Grant revenue must be recorded against cost centre YNCA.
The program is application-based and commenced in calendar year 2005 and will continue to the end of calendar year 2008.

This program is application-based and assessment criteria are at the DEST web-site above. Funds must be for use in the conduct of school activities and for use in primary or secondary levels of education (not pre-schools or kindergartens).
Funds for projects approved by the Australian Government will be provided to Central Office and distributed as a grant direct to schools.
For the July 2006 applications, which were approved by DEST in December 2006, payments will be made to schools in February 2007. Schools should regularly visit the Commonwealth Investing in Schools website for the 2007 funding round application dates.
Application-based.
Limit for funding in respect of any one school is $150,000 over the program life calendar years 2005 to 2008.
