Parents have an important role in supporting their child's drug education, as they can often be influential in the decisions that their children make. It is important that parents have access to accurate information and feel confident when talking to their child about drug related issues. The following links will provide factual information about different drugs and useful tips for talking to parents planning to talk to their child about drugs.
REDI - Resilience Education and Drug Information - is a collection of multimedia drug education resources developed for Australian schools by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training and are distributed free of charge to every school in Australia. They are specifically designed to support a comprehensive school drug education program.
Recently there has been an addition to the collection of resources, REDI for Parents - a resource package designed to assist families and schools to work collaboratively to foster the health and wellbeing of their child/ren particularly in the area of drug prevention. The focus is on providing schools and parents with background information, strategies and tools to work collaboratively towards nurturing the resilience and wellbeing of their young people, whatever the school community context and range of needs.
