Australian Psychological Society (APS)
The Australian Psychological Society (APS) is the largest professional association for psychologists in Australia, representing more than 15,000 members. Members can log onto this site to access a range of resources.
Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
The AASW is the professional representative body of social workers in Australia. It was formed in 1946 at the federal level, although a number of state branches had formed prior to this. It has a code of ethics, which contains a set of principles agreed to by all members. These principles guide all social work practice.
Psychologists Board of Australia
In Australia the psychology profession is regulated by the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act ('the National Law') as in force in each state and territory of Australia. Before any psychologist in Queensland or any other state in Australia may practice as a psychologist they must be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia. The psychology Board of Australia work in partnership with AHPRA.

The functions of the Psychology Board of Australia include:
- registering psychologists and provisional psychologists
- developing standards, codes and guidelines for the psychology profession
- handling notifications, complaints, investigations and disciplinary hearings
- assessing overseas trained practitioners who wish to practise in Australia
- approving accreditation standards and accredited courses of study.
Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA)
AHPRA is the organisation responsible for the implementation of the national registration and accreditation scheme across Australia. AHPRA supports the ten national health practitioner boards in implementing the national registration and accreditation scheme.
