In September 2008, a concern was raised by a parent from the Warrigal Road State School community regarding the incidence of childhood cancer (lymphoid leukaemia) at the school.
Queensland Health has advised that the data does not suggest that there has been an increase in the rate of lymphoid leukaemia in the Warrigal Road State School area.
The Department of Education, Training and the Arts implemented the following protocols to address the concerns raised:
