Welcome to the Organisational Health Unit's Health and Safety events page. As a part of the department's commitment to supporting your health, safety and wellbeing, this page has been designed to provide information relating to upcoming health and safety events as well as providing some resources to assist you in hosting events at your workplace.

Health and safety events are a great opportunity to reflect on the importance of health and safety in your workplace, involve people in activities and share knowledge and ideas.

Safe Work Week 2011 - 23 to 29 October 2011

Safe Work Week 2011, celebrated from 23 - 29 October, is rapidly approaching. This year Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) will be holding events throughout October and we want you to get involved.

All events aim to raise awareness of the importance of a safe and healthy workplace for all Queenslanders. Check out the events planned External Link.

State of Origin coach and rugby league legend, Mal Meninga, is once again the Safety Ambassador. Mal is personally committed to the importance of zero harm at work and will be sharing his experiences at events and activities around the state.

Get involved and show your support by hosting an event/s that focus on workplace health and safety issues or topics of interest that relate to your workplace. Visit WHSQ resources page External Link for campaign material featuring Safety Ambassador Mal Meninga. Posters, flyers, a calendar and educational resources are available for download. Show your support for Safe Work Week by displaying these materials throughout your workplace.

Central Queensland 25/10/2011 8:00 am to 4:30pm Rockhampton CQ TAFE
Central Queensland Tafe will be hosting a seminar style day with guest speakers from WorkCover, Queensland Fire and Rescue Service and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland. Managers and those with safety or rehabilitation roles within CQT will enjoy presentations on topics including harmonisation, rehabilitation, Zero Harm at Work, and fire and emergency safety.
Central Office 24/10/2011 to 28/10/2011 Various Education House Brisbane

This year, Department of Education and Training's (DET) Organisational Health Unit will be hosting activities in Education House from 24 -28 October to support Safe Work Week 2011.

The activities will focus on topics such as Office Ergonomics, Eye Health, Fitness, and much more.

Other events and conferences

There are a variety of health and safety events and conferences that run annually throughout Queensland. These events are exterior to DET and offer a lot of valuable information and resources. A list is provided below outlining these events.
