A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is a document that contains important information about a chemical. It must be written in English and must contain:
The SDS provides the necessary information to safely manage the risk from chemical exposure. SDS are to be readily available to workers (including staff, students and visitors) at the point of use of the relevant chemical.
ChemWatch ChemGold 3 (CG3) comprises a database of over 6 million original vendor SDS. It is designed to help users of chemicals in the development and organisation of the chemical management system and easily provides the basic information that is required to manage the risks associated with the use of chemicals.
Some workplaces may also have an online subscription to ChemAlert or access to other electronic SDS databases. Where an SDS is not accessible through the electronic SDS databases available, chemical users can request an SDS directly from the supplier or manufacturer of the chemical.
