What is the Telephone Directory?

official register of contact details
includes Principals, officers in Central/District Offices and Statutory bodies
links to Schools directory, White Pages and Yellow Pages
maintained by Central / District Office update officers

Full search:

Use this field to type in any combination of name, address, position, organisation area or services.

Tips:

More information increases the accuracy of the results; however
Too much information risks eliminating the contact you are searching for (if any single word does not match, there will be no match).
Start simple (with one word); go back and add more if you find too many results.

Name Search:

To find an officer surnamed White:
1. Click in the Surname box
2. Type in all or the first part of White (i.e. type "White" or "Whit")
3. Click on Search
Note: First or given names can also be searched

Tips:
- For officers with a surname such as McDonald, McKenna etc., try searching both with the space and without it.

Position Search:

To locate the Manager, Education Services:

Click in Position Field and scroll through to locate Manager, Education Services

Organisation Area Search:

To locate all officers in the Web Management Services Unit of the Information Management Branch:

Type 'Web Management Services' in

Tips:

If you do not remember the full or correct name of an organisation area:

Click on
A User Prompt screen will appear and prompt you to enter a search criterion for Organisation Area
Type in any part of the organisation area name, e.g. type in 'web' for Web Management Services Unit and click OK
A screen with all organisation areas meeting the search criterion will be displayed
Click on the organisation area that you want to search
The full name of the organisation area will be automatically entered into the Organisation Area Search box

Organisational Structure Search

To locate all officers in a particular Organisation Area.
1. Click on the Organisational Structure link (at the bottom of the main search screen)
2. Click on to expand the organisation area
3. Click on the organisation area name to go to a list of phone numbers for people in that area.

Services and Project Search

To search for an officer to help with an enquiry on a particular service/project where the name or organisation area is not known, e.g. 'web publishing', simply:
1. Type in 'web publishing' or 'web in the Services/Projects box on the main search screen
2. Click
  
  Alternatively
3. Select the icon
4. In the pop-up box that appears, type in the service or project in the search field.
5. Click on
6. This should produce results matching your search terms. When the desired term is clicked, it automatically appears in the services/projects field.
7. Click to display the search results.

How To Find Your Update Officers

There are two ways to locate Update Officers or Backup Update Officers:
1. Bottom of the main search screen:
2. Alternatively, go to the details screen of an officer whose record requires updating. The update officer for that person will be listed at the bottom of the screen.

Sorting your Search Results

Except for search by service/project, you can sort the officers' records to be displayed by selecting your option from Sort Order before you click on search.

Tips on Smarter Searching

Global Search

A search in the global field will search across all fields in the phone directory.

You can use 'Global' to search for:

an organisation area
officer name
additional details
position
phone number

To locate an officer with the telephone extension 54321:

Click in
Type 54321
Click

Combination Search

To search for officers with the surname 'Smith' or 'Smithfield' who work in Information Management Branch:

Type in 'Smith' in
Click in the Organisation Area Search box
Type in Information Management Branch. (If you do not remember the full name of the organisation area, use the grey magnifying glass icon. See Tips in Example 4 for details.)
