From 2014, the department will no longer offer new scholarships in this program.
From 1 January 2014, the Education and Care Services National Law (National Law) requires centre-based early childhood education and care services to engage, or have access to, a qualified early childhood teacher. Under the National Law, an early childhood teacher is a person with an approved early childhood teaching qualification.
Scholarship recipients were provided with a range of support directly related to their studies, including:
Skills and knowledge gained through the study program will benefit the employee as well as the centre in which they are currently employed.
If seeking teacher registration as a scholarship recipients would need to confirm their eligibility directly with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
Individuals who currently hold a four year preservice teacher education qualification may be eligible for teacher registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT). Please visit the QCT website for a list of approved Queensland preservice teacher education programs for the purpose of teacher registration in Queensland.
Individuals who currently hold teacher registration in other Australian states or territories or New Zealand may be eligible for Queensland teacher registration through the mutual recognition process . Further information is available from the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) website.
