The Department of Education and Training offers a range of scholarships to assist in meeting workforce demands each year.
Scholarships offer the opportunity for permanent employment, induction programs and financial incentives.
The Graduate Teacher Employment Scholarships aim to attract high achieving final year pre-service teachers who are completing an approved undergraduate or postgraduate pre-service teacher education program in an area of demand.
Demand areas may vary from year to year in each region, dependent on workforce needs.
In 2011, Graduate Teacher Employment Scholarships were awarded to pre-service teachers specialising in one or more of the following high demand curriculum areas:
Scholarship recipients are committed to teaching in a Queensland state school, in a rural or remote location for a minimum of two years following successful completion of their pre-service teacher education program.
Graduate Teacher Employment Scholarships are not currently being offered.
