The Department of Education and Training has a range of initiatives focused on aspiring teachers, pre-service teachers and current teachers for Queensland state schools.
Current initiatives include:
Teach Team: Education Queensland Teaching Ambassadors
The Team Teach is a team of knowledgeable, experienced and passionate educators who provide quality-assured presentations to pre-service teachers and aspiring teachers on behalf of the Department.
Scholarships and Grants for pre-service and aspiring teachers
The department currently offers a range of scholarships and grants to support people who have chosen teaching as a career and are commencing or undertaking studies to become a teacher.
Scholarships for current state school teachers
The department offers a range of scholarships to assist state school teachers to develop their skills and curriculum expertise.
Grey Nomad Teacher Employment Strategy
The Grey Nomad Teacher Employment Strategy is an initiative of the Department of Education and Training that encourages registered and retired teachers to support their travels in a unique range of rural, remote and regional locations throughout Queensland through short-term teaching opportunities.
Departmental presence at careers fairs and expos
Every year, representatives from the Department of Education and Training attend a range of national careers events and expos, including careers fairs at Queensland Higher Education Institutions.
