Introducing Junior Secondary

In 2015, Year 7 became the first year of high school in Queensland as part of the Flying Start for Queensland Children initiative.

Teachers of Junior Secondary students require a diverse range of skills, knowledge and experience to ensure that the learning and wellbeing needs of students can be met.

While Junior Secondary will look different in every secondary school, six principles External Link have been developed to underpin the transition. In most secondary schools, teachers may also have the opportunity to teach students in Years 10, 11 and 12 and to specialise in specific curriculum or subject areas.
