Employment Opportunities for Language Teachers

Due to the Queensland Government's commitment to quality language studies in schools the department currently has a high demand for Language Teachers particularly in rural, remote and regional schools across Queensland.

The Department of Education and Training is committed to providing high-quality education services to students in Queensland state schools and to ensuring the availability of quality teachers to deliver them - now and in the future.

Language studies are an important part of the Queensland state school curriculum and are offered in most primary and secondary school settings.

The following languages are currently taught in state schools, across Queensland:

If you are appointed to a schools in an identified remote areas, you may be eligible for incentives under the Remote Area Incentive Scheme (RAIS).

Eligibility

To be eligible to be employed as a Language teacher, applicants are required to undertake a LOTE proficiency assessment Adobe PDF document 188k in addition to the application for teacher employment process.
