Kathryn Green

Primary teacher

Kathryn currently teaches at Cairns West State School.

As a teacher, Kathryn has had an opportunity to work in some of the most interesting, challenging, rewarding and brilliant schools in Queensland.

We asked our teachers to reflect on their teaching career and complete the following statements.

I chose a teaching career because...
I loved the idea of working with kids and helping them to access what they need to be successful in their lives.

The most rewarding aspect of being a teacher is...
Being paid to do something that doesn't feel like work and that is awesome to go to everyday, always changing and always challenging.

I believe that I have made a difference to my students by...
Caring and not being afraid of a bit of fun or admitting that I don't know everything.

The three personal qualities that I think are important for teachers are...
Empathy, passion and patience.

A memorable moment from my teaching career was...
Too many to choose from but a definite highlight was the opportunity to live and work in a remote Indigenous community for two amazing years.

My career aspirations are...
To keep doing what I'm doing, just better each day.

I would encourage people to consider a teaching career if...
You want a career that is always changing, always requiring you to learn, think, examine and challenge what you think you know.
