Renee Tuni

Learning support teacher

Renee is a learning support teacher for students in Years 9 and 10 at Stretton State College.

In her role as a Learning Support Teacher, Renee has had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of young people and to learn from them.

We asked our teachers to reflect on their teaching career and complete the following statements.

I chose a teaching career because...
During the adolescent years, young people start to develop their personalities and values. They arrive at conclusions and develop their attitudes that begin to shape their long term behaviour. Therefore, I recognise that the educational experiences and guidance that youth receive during these years is of utmost importance.

The most rewarding aspect of being a teacher is...
Watching your students achieve in all facets of life, including their academic, social and emotional development.

I believe that I have made a difference to my students by...
Bringing a level of understanding and supporting them to achieve success.

The three personal qualities that I think are important for teachers are...
Understanding, tolerance and perseverance.

A memorable moment from my teaching career was...
When a high needs student said to me "Thanks for the lesson Miss!"

I would encourage people to consider a teaching career if...
They enjoy working with young people and want to encourage them to become the best individuals and citizens they can be, now and in the future.
