Replacement teacher expectations statement
This framework is an overview of the expectations schools may have regarding the employment of temporary personnel on site.
- The school principal has overall authority and responsibility for outlining duties to be performed on a school site.
- Legislative and policy requirements focussing on the Code of Conduct for the Queensland Public Service
, DET Standard of Practice
and the Student Protection Policy are binding on all personnel on a school site inclusive of replacement staff.
- Replacement teachers should actively engage classes and promote learning by:
- following the programs outlined by schools or class teachers
- being prepared with activity work relevant to the age group to enhance school/class programs
- complying with relevant timetables for specialist lessons, playground duty, etc
- leaving a record of work covered and any relevant communication for the class teacher.
For more specific details, temporary teachers should approach the Principal on site or visit the QCT website for further tips on replacement teaching.
