The Queensland Government is investing $321 million to establish up to 240 new kindergarten services. This will ensure that by 2014 all Queensland children have access to a quality early learning program in the year before Prep.
Where feasible, the extra services will be co-located on state and non-state school sites to provide convenience to parents and assist with school readiness.

As part of Do the Bright Thing Initiative
approximately $5.76 million will be invested in solar power systems for up to 420 kindergarten services.
$3.76 million will be invested in solar panels for the 240 planned new kindergarten services.
A competitive funding round of $2 million will enable up to 180 existing not-for-profit community kindergartens to install solar panels. For information on this funding please visit the Solar Kindergartens Funding Program website
