Building the Education Revolution program

Queensland state school's are building a brighter future for hundreds of students under the $16.2 billion Building the Education Revolution (BER) program, with multi-million dollar project facilities to enhance and develop the young minds of our future generations.

With our state having completed the first Primary Schools for the 21st Century (P21) project and Science and Language Centre (SLC) in Australia, the department is excited to be delivering positive outcomes, seeing first hand the smiles on staff and students faces across the state. To date Queensland has benefited from the completion of 1446 P21 projects at 983 schools, 2812 completed NSP projects at 1251 schools and 91 SLC projects completed at 91 schools.

The BER project has not only stimulated the national and local economies through the building of new, and refurbishing existing school infrastructure, it has also provided a once in a lifetime opportunity for students to embrace these new modern, multi-million dollar facilities.

The effect of BER in our state schools has been paramount in the outpour of success stories from teachers and staff who are ecstatic with the results and long term outcomes.

BER projects include new school halls, libraries, science labs for primary and high schools, language centres for high schools as well as additional funding for school renewal and minor project maintenance.

"We've employed about 80 tradespeople on this site, including a number of apprentices. We've taken another ten people on staff that we didn't have in March, and we've also employed a young bloke in our office to do CAD (computer-assisted design) work".
