On February 3, 2009, as part of its Nation Building - Economic Stimulus Plan, the Australian Government announced
its $16.2 billion Building the Education Revolution program for Australian schools.
The Building the Education Revolution program has two key objectives:
The key elements of the Building the Education Revolution program are:
Funding of $14.1 billion to build or refurbish large-scale facilities, such as libraries and multi-purpose halls, in Australian primary, P-12 and special schools.
Funding of $821.8 million to build science laboratories and language learning centres in secondary schools across the country.
Funding of $1.3 billion to refurbish and renew existing facilities and minor building works in Australian government and non-government schools.
