Fact Sheets
Program implementation overview
- The Department has begun the implementation of projects allocated funding under the three Building the Education Revolution program elements:
- The Building the Education Revolution programs is being centrally delivered as per the standard capital works processes.
- Principals are responsible for identifying the needs of their school with reference to the Australian Government s BER guidelines and priorities, and in consultation with their P&C Association.
- Principals then discuss their needs with the BER Regional Facilities Officer (a Department of Education and Training employee) and seek agreement from their school community through the Parents and Citizens Association.
- Regional Facilities Officers then prepare a Project Establishment Brief (PEB) in conjunction with the School Principal and P&C, and where possible the Project Co-Ordinator.
- The Regional Facilities Officer moves the PEB to the Project Coordinator from Facilities Services Branch (within DET) to deliver the project.
- The Project Coordinator from the Facilities Services Branch leads and directs the delivery of the project. The Project Coordinator is the key point of contact for the school on all matters involving project delivery from design through to construction and commissioning.
- The Project Coordinator is responsible for overseeing project time, cost and quality issues while ensuring the needs of the school are being met.
- Building the Education Revolution budgets for all state schools are transparent and consistent with the Australian Government's Building the Education Revolution Guidelines
inclusive of all professional costs and contingencies.
