Albany Creek State School's vision of creating a vibrant and caring educational institution for staff and students has become a reality with the official opening of their multi-million-dollar Building the Education Revolution (BER) funded classrooms and resource centre refurbishment in November.
The school's new classrooms and refurbished resource centre provides supportive and challenging learning environments for students, endeavouring to maximise achievements and positive outcomes for all students.
Minister for Education and Industrial Relations, Cameron Dick attended the official opening celebrations, commending the school on their fabulous, 21st century facilities.
Mr Dick said the implementation of BER was a great example of two levels of government working in partnership to enhance educational facilities for Queensland's children.
State member for Everton, Murray Watt was also in attendance, congratulating the staff and students at Albany Creek State School for their facilities.
He said the feedback from the principal and school community on their new facilities had been overwhelmingly positive.
The resource centre refurbishment comprised of approximately 84 square metres of new space to be utilised as a multi purpose space. The extension has provided an integrated floor space between the existing library and computer room.
The refurbished resource centre also features an interactive learning space and new library station.
The provision of contemporary classrooms and resource centres, provide an environment for students to work collaboratively on innovative teaching and learning enterprises.
The school also received six new classrooms, which are all designed with new computers and interactive white boards, creating a better and more innovative learning environment for students.
Under the National School Pride (NSP) element of BER, Albany Creek State School received $200,000 for covered links to connect school buildings, upgrade to classrooms and special needs and music rooms.
The Australian Government has approved nearly 4500 BER projects totaling $2.1 billion in more than 1200 Queensland Schools.
