Examples of how forums are used in education

  • EdNA Groups
    Topics are divided into Current, Pending and Past. Participants can view all forums and also begin a new topic of discussion. While most forums are for teachers and others involved as professionals, some sites are run by students, as, for example, the Body Image Discussion for Year 10 PDHPE students.
  • Future Leaders
    The site comprises discussion lists, forums and awards as well as information units for developing skills and motivation, including a section for indigenous leaders.
  • Kidsource online: education
    This site contains a series of articles on education as well as on-line forums and education links. Attention deficit disorders and learning disabilities are also featured, along with 'Education on the Web' and forums on 'Computers in education' and 'Education and kids'.
  • Kidsource online: healthcare
    A series of articles on health, online forums, health and safety links, star-rated in descending order. Online forums are available for parents to seek advice on particular health and developmental problems.
  • Serendip
    'Serendip' aims to provide a forum for discussion and resources to 'support intellectual and social change in education'. It contains five subject areas: 'Brain and behavior', 'Complex systems', 'Genes and behavior', 'Science and culture', and 'Science education', each containing 'interactive exhibits, articles, links to other resources, and a forum area for comments and discussion'.
  • Oz-TeacherNet: teachers helping teachers
    This is a practical site designed to build online communities of educators, and to promote the Internet to support curriculum and professional development. Past projects include Virtual field trips and Global youth forums while Communities include groups for Indigenous, Gifted and talented and Vocational education. Feature story introduces discussion forums on a range of educational topics.
  • Queensland Association for Gifted and Talented Children
    This site for all teachers and families of gifted children provides information on the education of gifted and talented children and on conferences, government education initiatives and online discussion forums.
  • Kids who make a difference

    Tony Ryan was the online guest for a Netdays 2001 forum. The focus for Netdays 2001 was how children can make a difference in the world. Tony answered questions from students and teachers from all around Australia about the 'Kids Who Make a Difference' website.
