Chinese New Year: Year of the Tiger

Chinese New Year: Year of the Tiger begins on 14 February 2010. A selection of resources that can be used in the classroom can be found in the Learning Place Resource Centre. Examples of resources available are included below.

  • China the Beautiful
    This excellent site is packed full of information on China. Information on festivals, history, the emperors, Chinese language and calligraphy, literature, music, printing, dragons, historical maps, art and battles are just few of the topics covered.

    This is an excerpt taken from the beginning of an item in the weekly black-and-white newsreel Cinesound Review, released in cinemas on 25 February 1937.

Safer Internet Day 2010

Safer Internet Day 2010 held on 9 February, aims to raise awareness about the safe and responsible use of online technologies by children and young people. Promote Internet safety at your school with the wide range of resources available from the Learning Place Resource Centre. Examples of resources available are included below.

  • ThinkUKnow
    This Australian site offers a range of free downloadable education resources on Internet safety.
  • ACMA Cybersmart
    Managed by the Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA), the Cybersmart program was developed to promote online safety for children and young people.
