Frequently asked questions for non-state schoolsThe Le@rning Federation is a partnership between the Territories, States the Australian and New Zealand Governments. Its role is to develop learning objects and other online curriculum content for schools in Australia and New Zealand. Queensland participates in this initiative and delivers TLF content through the Curriculum Exchange resource centre. TLF content also appears in a number of online course and other spaces. To comply with our licensing requirements, all institutions that affiliate with the Learning Place must also be covered by a licence from The Le@rning Federation, for educational use. Non-state schools that have chosen to participate in TLF licensing are nominated under a header agreement that is executed between TLF and their sector authority - The Queensland Catholic Education Commission and Independent Schools Queensland. Because some education institutions have not yet agreed to participate in TLF licensing, it is important for you to tell us if you are covered. This information will be checked against the advice provided to us by your sector education authority. To find out if your institution has been nominated under the Catholic or Independent sector header agreements, contact:
Level 1 access must include all students and staff. Staff refers to the part-time and full-time Principals/Head Masters, Deputies, teachers, teacher aides, specialist teachers and school leaders. If the school funds the staff member then you should include that person in your numbers. Ancillary staff and public servants need not be included unless your school would like them to participate in professional learning or online training opportunities or support learning. What if only a few staff members want access to the Curriculum Exchange resource centre?
The cost of access to the Curriculum Exchange resource centre is based on total student and teaching staff numbers. A whole school approach is required as digital resources can be shared by students and teachers. This approach satisfies licensing fees and legal considerations. Simply complete the online form indicating total student and teaching staff numbers for determining level 1 access and how many students and staff you would like to have level 2 access. For example: If you have 100 students and staff in total and you would like 20 to have full Learning Place Affiliate membership (level 2) the calculation for subscription cost would be: 80 staff and students x $2.50 + 20 staff and students x $27.00 = $740 (ex GST). What if my school has only one or two teachers?
Please contact our Learning Place team to determine your subscription fee. We are happy to negotiate special deals for particular circumstances. You may like to take out a 10 person subscription and include teacher aides, supporting and ancillary staff. What if my school has an increase or decrease in student and staff numbers?
We recommend that you pay for a few extra subscriptions to cater for increases in staff or student numbers. As our licensing fees are paid up front we are unable to decrease number within the one year. Increases can be included by contacting the Learning Place. What if one student leaves and another arrives at our school?
When a student leaves you retain the place and your Learning Place Local Administrator will be able to allocate the login to a new student. Please contact our Learning Place team to request more information or discuss your school’s specific eLearning needs. Conditions of useThe general conditions of use are published on the Learning Place web site for your information. Inappropriate use of the Learning Place will result in the member’s removal from the system or the school access being removed in serious breaches of use. |
