Frequently asked questions for UniversitiesThe Le@rning Federation (TLF) is a partnership between the Territories, States the Australian and New Zealand Governments. It's role is to develop learning objects and other online curriculum content for schools in Australia and New Zealand. Queensland participates in this initiative and delivers TLF content through the Curriculum Exchange resource centre. TLF content also appears in a number of online course and other spaces. To comply with our licensing requirements, all institutions that affiliate with the Learning Place must also be covered by a licence from The Le@rning Federation, for educational use. Universities can obtain a licence for educational use of TLF content, at no cost. This is normally organised through the Education Faculty who can contact The Le@rning Federation. Because some education insititutions have not yet agreed to participate in TLF licensing, it is important for you to tell us if you are covered. This will be checked against the latest advice provided to us from TLF. To find out if your institution has a TLF licence contact your faculty or library administration team. Who needs to be included in the teaching staff calculation to determine the cost of level 1 access to the Curriculum Exchange Resource centre?
Teaching staff refers to all lecturers and tutors. What if only a few staff members want access to the Curriculum Exchange resource centre?
The cost of access to the Curriculum Exchange resource centre is based on total pre-service student and teaching staff numbers. A whole of educational faculty is required as digital resources can be shared by students and teachers. This approach satisfies licensing fees and legal considerations. Simply complete the online form indicating total pre-service student and teaching staff numbers for determining level 1 access and how many pre-service students and staff you would like to have level 2 subscriptions. For example: If you have 100 students and staff in total and you would like 20 to have full Learning Place Affiliate membership (level 2) the calculation for subscription cost would be: 80 staff and students x $2.50 + 20 staff and students x $27.00 = $740.00 (ex GST). Please contact our Learning Place team to request more information or tel: 3421 6655 to discuss your university’s specific eLearning needs. Will my University students have staff or student access?
Pre-service students will have staff access to the Learning Place with level 2 access. Duty of care for Queensland students resides with the school Principal and supervising teacher while the pre-service student is at the school. This means the supervising teachers will need to be enrolled in the Blackboard spaces and other Learning Place communication tools. Conditions of useThe general conditions of use are published on the Learning Place web site for your information. Inappropriate use of the Learning Place will result in the member’s removal from the system or the university access being removed in serious breaches of use. |
